Handover checklist: what to specify and what to verify on site

  • Grout-line visual inspection at 48 hours post-installation: confirm uniform color, no hairline cracks, joint width within tolerance (±0.5 mm).
  • Moisture-meter reading of the grout at sealing time: target 8–12 percent moisture content. Readings above 15 percent indicate the grout is not ready for sealing; defer by 24 hours and re-test.

Switch to the post-monsoon specification. If you are installing in late August or early September, when monsoon conditions are breaking, consult the atelier on site. The humidity profile is transitional, and the sealing protocol may need to be calibrated to the specific conditions at handover.

Do we need to re-seal the grout after the first monsoon season?

Not if the initial seal was applied correctly and the grout line has been maintained. A well-sealed epoxy-hybrid grout in a steam shower should hold for 3–5 years before re-sealing becomes necessary. However, annual inspection during the monsoon season (August for pre-monsoon installations) is good practice.
